I’ve been a Poutine lover for 40 years since first having this great dish in Windsor and on many trips to Niagara Falls Canada before checking into the hotel I stop at the Burger King on Clifton Hill to enjoy a large cup filled with my alltime favorite comfort food. Since then I’ve tried many of the fast food joints around Canada,,yes they all serve this dish and many local pubs and restaurants in and around Windsor.
A few years ago a place in Wyandotte,, Joe’s Hamburger had the very first Poutine around Detroit and now about a dozen plus spots have there own take on this dish. Only one is the best and truly original as the 2 owners relocated in Detroit from Toronto just a little over a year ago. The spot Brooklyn Street Local in the heart of Corktown is a must try, with them plating up the original and one topped with Bacon. They keep it real as other’s have missed the mark by not using the White Cheese Curds which is not the same prepared any other way,,I assure you as I make this dish at home many times per year. You must try Poutine at any spot you see the dish on the menu and then drive to Brooklyn Street Local and have the real deal or just drive across the border to Windsor and head to Smoke and Spice to have the Pulled Pork Poutine a dish you will never forget or find anywhere I’ve been.
