Addictive Eclectic Ribeye with Poblano Pepper La Crema Sauce,,MONEY

As a major Foodie being raised in SW Detroit and a regular visitor to my old stomping grounds to support the hard working family owned eateries, I have to say this has to be the Very Best New eating spot for decades in all of Mexican Town. Little known the area is kinda split between the Clark Park area and Springwells Village section which is just a couple exits away at Springwells off I-75  only 10 minutes from the heart of downtown Detroit. The area most missed by the suburbian’s which think Mexican Town is only on Bagley have been missing dozens of unique non tourist trap real deal Mexican eating spots,,,that guess what the Mexican’s in the Barrio eat at.  Ah Ha  so now you know the real deal.

In reality many of the long time decades old Mexican Town eateries are only plating up Gringo style meals that why you only see the folks from the suburbs visiting thinking this is the finest offered,,,NOT you must venture out folks to explore all of what Southwest Detroit has to offer. A executive Chef Luis Garza who spent years working for Andiamo’s now brings gourmet Steaks along with unique Mexican crafted meals to the area. For now we’ll call it a hidden gem that you must try for those looking for a fine dining experience not found in other parts of SW Detroit.

We had the most amazing meal and service Thanks Ana our waitress and the table side made Guacamole in the Stone ground dish. After reading the reviews just had to try the Rib eye smothered with Poblano Pepper La Crema Sauce,,, believe me a Steak like no other that warmed our belly also the Mole Gallina which I know as Chicken Mole where the sauce is the boss and Yes the very best I’ve had around town as most use it from a jar,,,this is house made with that special Chocolate only found in Mexico.

A large selection of Steaks,Seafood and Mexican specialties can be found on the menu that are many of the elaborate dishes we’ll be trying soon,,next will be the Aged Sirloin with Guajillo,Ancho and Chipotle Butter Cream Sauce along with the traditional Stuffed Poblano Peppers I’m so enlightened by.

Also we tried a couple old school Tacos,,,Chorizo and Asada both off the chart great, I notice a few different Fish Taco’s I’ll try next time for a super treat I’m sure. A very nice pleasant clean eating area with get this white table cloths,,yep I made one hell of a mess Ha Ha. This place is # 2 on Urbanspoon for the most talked about eating spots out of 1100 restaurants,,,so now what does that tell you. Wow Downriver has a Taco Truck Yep 3 years, Bet you didn’t know.

Downriver’s only taco truck has now been in place for a 3 years and it’s booming. I put it in my top 3 of all taco trucks from Southwest Detroit. The taco are $ 1.25 each and are loaded with pork,chicken or steak topped with onion and cilantro served with radish and salsa verde with is green. You eat 3 of these and you’ll be stuffed from the moist meat yummy taco’s. Note only a few hundred yards from the river, get some taco’s and driver to the river for a great view with your food. The mega deal is everyday you can get 10 for $10 on the same Taco’s which we get every time

Also the most amazing chunky Guacamole you’ll ever eat, a large container only $ 3.50. The wife so Loves the steak Quesadillas loaded with meat and melted cheese,,,, two of them make a meal for her. The Taco dinner come with rice and beans along with 3 Taco’s of your choice for $ 5 now that’s what I call the best meal deal around town. Must try that Grande Burrito it’s big as your head enough to share and my favorite is there homemade Tomatillo Green Salsa I put that on everything. Make sure to try a Mexican soda along with a Botona too. Yes they’re open year round making many happy. You must seek out and try the most unique eating spot in our area. 

You Bet Your Chimichangas They be GOOD

I just Love the influx of Mexican families moving into the downriver area over the last decade to open many new restaurants with a dozen in just the last year. Being born and raised in SW Detroit there really is no need for me to travel to Mexican Town with a couple dozens great family eating spots around our area now. Julio’s had be plating up traditional real deal meals for a decade making hundreds of regular customers eating in and carry out. 

 We always start  with the Queso Flameado that’s loaded with pepper,onions,chorizo in melted bubbly cheese.  We always get a Chimichanga dinner with the succulent chunky beef and a salad,,which is a great option to replace the rice and beans that I never eat. I so wish many other Mexican place would offer this option as a healthy option,,, I’d even pay a little more. 
Yes sir indeed they be really great Chimichangas really the best around town.

Also had taco’s and lunch special Botona that comes with a drink, WOW it’s fantastic. Just a few weeks ago they now are open on Sunday with few new special dishes reserved for that day,,, my favorite is the traditional Red Pozole loaded with chunks of Pork Shoulder and Hominy along with many other goodie, this dish is mainly made for celebrations and holidays that’s I real treat as many places don’t make this. Also a special shredded pork Taco marinated in Pineapple Juice with Bacon added,,whoa I really need to try these on a Sunday soon. Please support a family run operation that supports downriver. I’ve been enjoying all these new ethnic eating spots around the area which supports our towns since the money stays here.

Dessert the Cheesecake Chimichanga was Amazing, stuffed very a light fluffy cheese inside a deep fried flour tortilla and topped with Strawberries, Powdered Sugar and a dollop of Cool Whip outstanding. Fast friendly service with a smile in the spotless clean eating spot will keep you coming back for more.

Torta,Queso Flameado,Burrito & Amazing Salsa

To die for Salsa!!! – Tijuana’s serves excellent food but their salsa cannot be beat. The food as always at the 2 other location’s always spot on with Queso Flameado, Salsa,Tamale,Chunky Beef Burritos Tacos and a Mexican Pizza.My alltime favorite is the Queso Flameado made with melted cheese loaded with Chorizo plated up bubbling hot with house made flour tortillas which I order every time along with the popular on Mexican sandwich called the Torta with either steak or chicken. The Salsa is by far the best you’ll try in the area with many stopping in just to purchase bags of chips and salsa to go.

Oh my the Mega Burrito a super great lunch special every day till 2pm is a must try for only $3.99 stuffed with your choice of meats,,,I Love the chunky beef. I tell you this is a meal deal along with every Tuesday the 99 cent Tacos are just loaded and topped with shredded cheese. The lunch special are only $ 5.50 and many come with a soda.
